RC700 - Connecting to your PC

Modified on Sat, 24 Feb at 10:57 AM

The RC700 reader can work in different modes of operation. By default it will behave as a PCSC reader. This type of reader works natively in Windows using the Smart Card Service and on GNU/Linux systems using PCSC lite.

On Windows no driver is required since Windows Vista. On GNU/Linux it is required to install these packages or equivalent packages for your distribution:

* libpcsclite
* libccid
* pcscd

The SDK has an example on how to use PCSC on both Windows and GNU/Linux. One important aspect of PCSC is that the reader can only be accessed when a card is found. After that the manual documents the set of commands that can be used to work with different types of cards, for example Mifare Classic cards.
